Canada’s data deficiency: marriage and divorce rates

Researchers are pushing for the Government of Canada to start releasing marriage and divorce rates almost a decade after the numbers stopped being collected federally.

The push is lead by Cardus Family’s Andrea Mrozek. She argues that tracking Canada’s marriage and divorce rates are insightful to our culture’s view on “the gold standard for lifelong love.”

Cardus wrote a letter to Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science, and Economic Development and Attorney General David Lametti calling for the data to be measured federally again. The letter has 30 signatories of researchers who say tracking this data helps shape policy decisions.
