Context: Opioid Crisis (Ep. 1602)

This week host, Lorna Dueck, sits down with Canada’s Federal Health Minister, the Honorable Jane Philpott, to discuss the opioid crisis facing our nation.

The Health Minister has called the increase in opioid overdoses a “national health crisis…we haven’t got the final numbers in, but it looks like over 2016 there will be upwards of 3,000 young Canadians that will have died of an opioid overdose. We have never seen numbers like that before,” says Philpott on Context. The Minister will discuss the government’s opioid strategy and how her faith is guiding her through one of the most difficult and important portfolios in Canadian government.

Context will convene faith and health leaders asking how Muslim, Aboriginal and Christian recovery workers are engaging the crisis. Tonight’s season premiere will also be available via LIVE streaming at: www.yestv.com, on Facebook LIVE at: https://www.facebook.com/sayyestv, with LIVE Q & A on social media at: https://twitter.com/ContextTV.
