Nigerian Christian refugee family faces deportation

A Christian refugee family from Nigeria are facing deportation after their refugee status was rejected. Morufat Ogunkoya fled from persecution in Nigeria after converting to Christianity. Ogunkoya told the Voice of Pelham that her father is well connected to Muslim clerics and the terrorist group Boko Haram, and being deported back to Nigeria puts her and her family in serious danger. Ogunkoya and her oldest son volunteer at Rose City Kids – a non-profit youth ministry.

The organization has launched a petition to the Minister of Immigration to allow the family to stay.
