Susan Ponting began her journalism and reporting career with Shaw Cable 10 where she won two Canadian Cable Producers Awards.

After seven years with Shaw, Susan moved on to print media working with Metroland Media, the Toronto Star, North of the City Magazine, Canadian Jewish News, MediaEdge, Huffington Post, and others. After writing and reporting in the print world, Susan went back to television and worked as a reporter/producer on ListenUP! Lorna Dueck’s first syndicated program. While working with ListenUP, Susan also worked as a freelance reporter and writer with CBC Radio, Global Television Network, and CTV’s CanadaAM, and The Canadian Press. After working with these major media outlets, Susan went to the actor’s union – ACTRA where she honed her skills in public relations and communications skills. Susan produced events such as the ACTRA Award of Excellence to Kiefer Sutherland and many others. Susan then decided to start her own business and began integrating her media and journalism experience into PR and corporate communications helping qualified experts and products get known by media. She has negotiated contra broadcast deals, and deals with filmmakers, directors, and organizations. In August, 2016 Susan returned to Context Beyond the Headlines as Executive Producer and Showrunner. Susan learned her craft at Ryerson’s journalism program, and also has a certificate in Strategic Communications from the University of Toronto.
