Why slowing down the spread of COVID-19 will help experts
Infectious disease consultant, Dr. Allison McGeer, says between 20-70% of Canadians are expected to get coronavirus. But health officials are trying to slow the spread of the virus to ease the strain on the healthcare system while experts find a vaccine or treatment.
“The goal is not so much to reduce the total amount of infections, as it is to spread it out over time,” Dr. McGeer told Lorna Dueck.

As the amount of cases continues to grow around the world, Dr. McGeer says hospitals are working on treatment and prevention methods so people don’t have to continue suffering.
